Singer/Songwriter/Musician/Recording Engineer/Record Producer Simon
Widdowson returns home to Yorkshire after over 20 years of traveling,
performing, recording and producing music.  A soulful presence on
stage having performed over 1200 concerts across America, Canada,
Ireland and France, an accomplished Recording Engineer and Record
Producer with dozens of Major and Independent Record label credits to
his name.

Growing up near Leeds, Simon moved to Minneapolis and was lead
guitarist in the Blues band, Killing Floor before fronting power-pop
trio Rainjackets who enjoyed success during the Minneapolis music
scene of the 90's, alongside locals such as Replacements, Bob Mould
and Soul Asylum.

Then to the high desert of Santa Fe, New Mexico and a several year
period of playing over 200 solo acoustic concerts a year, driving over
250,000 miles across the USA in an old Volvo, headlining concerts and
supporting great artists such as John Martyn, Paul Brady, Clive
Gregson, Tom Paxton, Deacon Blue and recording and releasing 3 solo
albums. His band also included late British drummer and good friend
Ian Wallace (Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and King Crimson)

Next stop was Portland, Oregon where he converted an old warehouse
into the Are You Listening? Recording Studio and recorded and
co-produced the Decemberists classic debut album Castaways and Cutouts
along with many highly acclaimed recordings for dozens of other
artists. Working alongside REM sideman and the Posies frontman Ken
Stringfellow, Santana drummer Graham Lear and Dandy Warhol’s Producer
Tony Lash, to name but a few, Simon perfected his skills in the
studio. He returned to touring in Canada and the US, recorded 2 more
solo albums and then finally left America.

Next stop was Cork, Ireland where for two years he continued to write
and perform his own music and record and produce several Irish acts.
Then to Lyon, France for the last four years where he recorded his
latest unreleased album “Loss of Innocence”, played a series of
concerts, worked as a sideman in other groups and produced and mixed
albums for various French artists. Simon mixed live recordings of Lily
Allen, Glasvegas and Plan B for French television and worked as
recording and mix engineer and voice over artist for film, television,
cartoons, audio guides and video games.

Simon Widdowson returns home to the North of England in Jan 2011
bringing with him a rich musical experience both on stage and in the
studio and has also just finished writing a book about his musical
journey the last 20 years.
