New songs to be debuted next month if the rumours are to be believed. Can't wait. - Ear Ache | | 10 | Fibbers | Sat,24th Nov | | Whats with the sound desk! Awesome and loud! - Gig Monkey | | 10 | Fibbers | Tue,4th Sep | | New member and coe-guitarist Sam [from the Nicoles]
makes his first appearance. 150+ crowd see a great set with a lot of extra depth to the sound in what is alrady a solid band. In a very short time they have fitted together well and even come up with some awesome new material. Watch out for them they have a plan. - I | | 10 | Fibbers | Tue,4th Sep | | Again, Insight ably demonstrated why they are easily the most likely local band to crack the big time. Watching this band evolve has been a startling demonstration of what raw talent can deliver when focused. In Rob Forrester, they possess a genuinely talented front man, huge confidence, huge voice allied to and that rare ability to hammer his guitar and sing in tune simultaneously. Positively, Sam Coe looks like he is part of this group and not an ex-Nicoles guitarist. Not only has the addition of a second guitar thickened and added substance to their set, Sam’s input is clearly tempering the sonic blitz that Radio York described “as the loudest noise ever generated in the studio from the smallest number of musicians”, adding some of the musicality that made The Nicoles so popular. Rob, smiling and exuberant and Sam quiet and focused, they could easily have been too different to gel but they fit together beautifully, swapping lead licks and creating musical drama. There is a raw energy about this group and a modest confidence that allows them to “plough their own furrow” and not follow the local indie-centric scene. Felix Bucklow on drums drives the rhythm supported by Will Jones on bass, both guys being pivotal in pushing the decibel level up. Provided they can continue their upward trajectory and stay together this band can do anything. With rumours suggesting that 08 will see the efforts of the Forrester/Coe relationship bearing fruit and a new, more challenging set of new material – not just reworked songs for two guitars - being gigged spring onwards, this reviewer’s anticipation could not be greater. Ear Ache - Ear Ache | | 10 | The Basement | Tue,27th Feb | | I am leaving another review about Insight becuase each time I see them, they blow me away.
Last night at the city screen basement bar, it was not the busiest night, nor did it have the best sound, but Insight as a band have come such a long way even just from the start of january.
Last nght the band seemed relaxed and looked like they were enoying themselves onstage. They did this but still managed to put on a great show of there melodic grunge sound.
Frontman Rob announced that the band are due to record in the studio on march 3rd(this saturday).
Anyone with sense should definently go about getting their hands on a copy of this CD.
I can defininently seeing Insight being thenext band out of York to make it.
