Paul and Olo were in Overture, so I suppose you could have said we didn't
really expect anything to really come of it! As fate would have it Overture
and The Bluebirds withered away and became something of a nostalgic memory,
the experience was brought with us though. We all became solely concentrated
on the band and really saw a great prospect rising from the ashes of the
other bands we had previously been in. We, as a band, decided to form
properly and indeed changed the name to Breakout Degree after much
deliberation over names. Our first gig was with hard-rockers Kid Ego at
their unplugged gig with our first set of original songs and a couple of
covers. After the gig we decided to get our first originals recorded and it
was there at Imp-Hut studios we met our new bassist, Ollie Spring. He was
enthusiastic and very keen to play our style of music, which at this point
was our own take on cock-rock. He spent a bit of time with the band and
played a couple of gigs before departing. So once again we were left as a
three-piece and with four pretty important gigs in line, we needed a
replacement! We gave a friend of ours; Milo (ex and co-member of Overture)
and he agreed to stand in for us on bass. He learned the songs pretty easily
and was a great feeling for us to have learnt the songs so quickly. We
eventually decided to offer him a place in the band permanently. As a band,
we decided to re-vamp our style and the songs we had previously written,
still keeping that initial style of cock-rock but in addition of some
kick-ass harmonies and crunching riffs. Our earliest song, Blackabarrera,
really pushed us forward as a band and became a hit with our following. In
recent reviews, Breakout Degree's sound has been described as "solid",
"swaggering" and "leading into a state of rocking euphoria". Getting quite a
few gigs in York and the Yorkshire area, Breakout Degree are looking to
broaden their horizons..

Add Review | | Tue,23rd Dec 08 | Fibbers | | A gang of hard drinking, hard rocking purveyors of OTT in-your-face sleaze in the tradition of GNR/Aerosmith/Skidrow/Motley Crue, who have a sole mission of performing intense, theatrical, foot to floor rock &n& roll! Just don&t get in their way because when The Ego rock out it&s all damn wild...one of the UK&s fastest rising glam/hard rock bands. ID IS ESSENTIAL ! Add Review | | Mon,20th Oct 08 | Fibbers | | Fronted by over-the-wall BB bad boy Donny Tourette and reinventing glam-seventies punk, generating enough controversy to start a rock &n& roll war. Their thumping glam punk rock and snotty attitude sees them fall neatly between the Motley Crue and the Sex Pistols. On stage, guitar and bass necks point to the heavens like some sort of pagan ritual. Guns n Roses meets 70s punk. Hugely entertaining, even if they probably ripped it off Bill and Ted.
